Environment & Economics
The focus of this task is on developing a tool that can be used to assess the energy savings and emissions reduction potential of caloric cooling equipment. Based on the estimated market for baseline equipment as measured by units shipped each year, we will estimate a share of the market to be captured by caloric systems and quantify the resulting energy savings and emission reductions. The results of the economic and environmental impacts analysis can be used to further focus the analysis in the direction of the most promising technologies.
A major goal our analysis is to identify the ways that may allow to quantify possible penetration of caloric systems into potential markets. In this subtask, two avenues of research will be pursued: modeling and real-world experience with other emerging technologies.
